Does winged eyeliner work smoother and better with liquid eyeliner or regular eyeliner?

Regular pencil liner is much more lenient with mistakes than liquid or gel liner—it’s by nature a little imprecise and smudgy. I love pencil liners, but you’d really need a gel or liquid to get bold, crisp winged eyeliner.

Actually I love to use gel eyeliner on the top and pencil on the bottom or inner lids.. you can put a small piece of tape on the outside of each eye to help you make a straight and even line. I think liquid is much too messy and hard to get off if you mess up!

I’m a huge advocate for liquid liner! It doesn’t smudge as easily and you can be much more precise with your lines. Wet a q-tip with some makeup remover to clean up any stray marks, and you’ll be set.

If I’m doing winged, I prefer liquid but I almost always have to clean it up with a q-tip afterwards. I definitely need more practice but at the end of it all, it looks pretty good.

Depending on what brand you use, you can also have a different outcome.
I prefer gel liner, it’s bolder and then a liquid liner for below my waterline. The reason I do so is because eyeliners tend to smudge on the bottom line, so it stays put if you use liquid. I don’t use liquid on top due to it being a little streaky for me and I have to go over it quite a few times for a decent outcome. So, gel on top, liquid on bottom. (: This is just how I do mine, as you girls might have other ways of doing so! As for pencil vs. gel, I would opt for the gel liner babe! The pencil smudges easier on your lids, while I feel the gel liners “stick” better. If you prefer pencil, just go back over it with a thin brush and a matte black eyeshadow for it to stay put! (You can also dab it on your waterline when you use eyeliner on the inside so it stays better throughout the day!) Hope this helped! (:

I used to use gel/lacquer liner but I switched to a liquid liner with a felt tip because it allowed me more precision and the black actually comes out blacker/darker when it is liquid.

For a crisp, clean wing, liquid is by far the best choice. However, if you’re new to eyeliner, it can be tricky to get the hang of it. It might be worth using a pencil until you get the hang of the technique and then switch to a liquid formula.

Pencil eyeliners also tend to bleed unless you set them with powder.
I love liquid eyeliner because, once you get the hang of it, it’s quick and easy and much darker and defined. But I use pencil on my lower lid because I put liquid eyeliner there once and it stung my eyes.

I use both at the same time.
Pencil If just I make a mistake, then once I get it perfect go over the pencil with liquid

I find that pencil liners smudge too much to create a really nice, precise wing
So I’d go with liquid, takes practice, but definitely worth it

For some reason unbeknownst to me, I can get a perfect wing with liquid liner. Let me try to do it with a pencil and that’s another story.
